The federal government could be forced to shut down again if President Trump and Congress can’t reach an agreement about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects almost 800,000 young people who came to this country as minors.

They qualified for DACA by having nearly spotless criminal records and being enrolled in high school or having a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Sixty percent say they’ve found jobs better-suited to their education and training, with their earnings increasing 80 percent.
- Twenty percent are enrolled in college, and five percent have earned bachelor’s degrees.
- Five percent have founded their own businesses.
- Almost a thousand are currently serving in the military.
